“Life is what we make it. It might as well be fun. Surround yourself with joy every day. My joy…my boys, my husband, my friends, and memories of my grandmother’s peonies.”
-Shannon Stage

Creator and owner, Shannon Stage, grew up in rural North Carolina where family, friends, and food were the center of small town life. She has lived on both sides of the country and with her husband, now resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She created Sas-y Designs at her kitchen table, where most good ideas start.

She is a graduate of Wake Forest University, a former school teacher, museum educator, and avid volunteer. She is the executive director of a non-profit organization promoting a healthier, more sustainable future for all of us. I love to entertain and always have. I enjoy planning get-togethers for my family and friends. For me, it’s a creative experience every time folks gather. Pulling it all together and anticipating the company is half the fun.

I wanted to pass this love of food, family, and fun to my boys. So as soon as they could join us at the table, teaching manners was part of our meals. I believe manners aren’t meant to separate us into those who have them and those who don’t. Rather I believe they bring us together. They make everyone feel at ease around the table and they are one way we show respect to those who lovingly prepared the meal. I watched my own children and realized that manners at the dinner table translated to manners away from the table and respect for everyone they met.

I started Sas-y Designs to express my love of entertaining and to help other parents like us who want to pass on polite traditions to their children. I hate to miss teachable moments and I want to help other parents capture those opportunities too.

Shannon has two grown sons. Her right hand in the business, Karen, is a work-from-home mom with four children. Between them, there are lots of teachable moments!
